Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is a federally recognized Indian tribe whose members have lived for generations on the 1855 Mille Lacs Reservation and throughout east central Minnesota from Mille Lacs Lake east to the St. Croix River and north to Rice Lake and Sandy Lake.

They needed a new identity that was modern, yet paid homage to their rich history.

The mark is inspired by native culture, beadwork, and geography of the region.

The wave element from the logo is used to create a supporting pattern that can be used throughout various collateral.

The Mille Lacs band also needed a new, more modern web presence. I was in charge of design.

Using bold typography, and beautiful imagery, the new site stands out from the competition.

I also designed the Mille Lacs monthly band newspaper called the Inaajimowin. I wanted it to feel connected to the rest of the brand, but have it’s own unique aesthetic.
